Doll hair salon? Doll hospital?! What happened to using your own imagination? Get a $5 doll, cut it's own hair and pop its arms back in yourself if you tear them out, just like I used to when I was a kid. There is no way that I would spend that much money on a doll for my kid to play with, no matter how bad they wanted it.

Mal, you might look into PictoBrowser for multiple photos within a post. I first read about it on /Thomas Hawk's blog.

American Girl dolls are one of the creepiest things I've ever seen. Why not just call them, "Baptist Republican Whites-Only Women in the Kitchen Dolls"? The mothers and daughters I see with them have the same glazed expression seen only on "The Stepford Wives".

Ohhh...I knew you had to pounce on the AG's one of these days.

As much as I do love your site, I have to admit that I've long been a fan of the American Girl dolls. I can understand why it seems totally terrifying and weird if you see a bazillion little girls walking around with them at the Grove... But AG (formerly known as Pleasant Company) actually has a nice history that predates its current connections to Mattel. Pleasant Company and its dolls were created to help educate girls with its historical dolls and their books.

I know there isn't much I can say to make you think otherwise...but these dolls aren't that bad. Honestly. But maybe that's just me being sentimental, and a fan of AG/PC since 1993ish. ;)
