so what!
Seeing the “Belly Brigade” go marching down the boardwalk so they can all shout about how they care so much about not caring at all about caring what people think led me to look into Tyra’s newest campaign.

So here we have 10 women marching around in tube tops shouting into their megaphone “I have a photo of my fat rolling over my too tight jeans posted on the internet by some insecure little bitch who calls herself Malingering, but SO WHAT! I now have half an ounce of self-esteem thanks to Miss Tyra Banks who fails see the irony in the fact that she made all of her money and fame off of being a slim and perfect Victoria’s Secret model and her career would never exist had she not conformed to society’s exclusive standards and now just because she retired from modeling and had one too many donut holes and someone caught a photo of her about 100 lbs heavier in her swimsuit one day she’s created a campaign to announce to the world that being skinny and pretty isn’t important anymore because hey that’s a lot easier and more feminist-like than lose 50 lbs to fit back into her old clothes so now Tyra is the ‘beauty on the inside’ advocate of 2007 and that makes me feel really good about myself! YAY for my belly!”

You are absolutely wrong about Tyra. She is preaching to all those young girls out there who starve themselves to look like those super skinny models. Tyra was never as skinny as some of the models today first of all and second of all even if she was, people make mistakes and maybe this is her way of correcting those mistakes! I think Tyra Banks is a beautiful and inspiring woman who has helped me cope with the things that i don’t like about myself. And for you to sit back and say that she is basically a hypocrite is ridiculous. I think that the young girls today need someone as strong and influential as Tyra to look up to instead of someone who is 96 lbs and starving themselves. Or instead of looking up to someone who makes a living off of bad mouthing the Do-gooders in today’s society. If there is one thing i have learned about people like you it is that you are only bad mouthing Tyra because you only wish you could be half as beautiful and half as intelligent as her.

“Do-gooders” has come to be considered to be a derogatory term, akin to “bleeding-heart liberals”. Perhaps you would be closer to the meaning you desire if you said “good-doers” instead.
Oh, and just how much do you think this website actually earns for the author?

Shelly: Once more in English? Mal, I think one of your patients has found teh interweb. Models beat doctors in the intelligence game, right?
Meo: My favorite derogatory term is “well-meaning.” The rewards of this website are karmic, not monitary. Unlike the above brigade, which is a fund-raising function even if there isn’t a distinct product involved (beside Tyra).
I haven’t an issue with “So what, this is how we were built.” Good self-image is what people need.
I do have an issue with “…and we’re gonna wear tight, short, unflatering things that show ever lump and bulge, like we’ve thrown every shred of modesty and aesthetic away.” C’mon, that’s not how our moms raised us.

Yes, you shouldn’t be afraid to do what you want. But, you should also be able to handle the negative comments that might result. I would imagine there is a limit to the amount of “positive change” you can make to your life by just saying “so what” to things. But, if it helps you to get out there and do other things, more power to you.

All i am saying is that I applaud those women, not just Tyra, for standing up for real women. I think today’s society has forgotten what a healthy woman looks like. You do not need to be a size 2 to be beautiful. As for the tight shirts they are trying to prove a point. No one is saying that they are going to wear them everywhere. It is for a good cause. They only wear the shirts to back up their words. And as for being able to handle the negative comments, that is what “So what!” is all about is telling people i’m fat…so what? i have wrinkles…so what? say what you want…SO WHAT!!!!!!!!
