the jinx

Nomar

I have spent years trying to figure out the right combination of shirt, cap, shoes, food, location etc. to make the Dodgers win. I have retired t-shirts after 3 losses. I have spent 3 innings pretending to stand in line for concessions because the Dodgers had a rally while I was buying a Dodger Dog. I have stayed home from games because they were on a winning streak and I didn’t want to change the energy.

This season my record (for games I attended) is 15-18. This is no good. My road record is 3-2, which is a bit better but I can’t find anyone to reimburse me for travel expenses incurred on these trips. So what do I do?

At Saturday’s game the Dodgers were losing 7-1. It was pathetic. Hope was lost. Then my sister went up to use the restroom. Furcal and Pierre both got on base. She returned to her seat. I told her to go back to the restroom. She refused but covered her face with her hat. Martin pops it up, and the center fielder drops it. My sister agrees that the sacrifice is worthwhile and goes back up to the restroom. What do you know? 4 run rally.

We made her sit through the rest of the game like this. Dodgers still lost 8-7. I’m doing everything I can.

One Response to “the jinx”

  1. When we were little, my brother and I would watch the Lakers on tv and if they were doing good, we wouldn’t move. If they started missing shots, then we would “switch positions” (lie on stomach, sit up, sit on couch, etc). Now that I am older, I realize how much nonsense that was. The only thing that works is changing my IM avatar. I just changed it to a pic of Tommy taking a tumble at the All-star game years ago. That should turn the team around.
