the stress continues

implants

An update:

One more week until my ultra-expensive ridiculous exam. It’s causing me so much stress that I’m crying for no reason, I have headaches day and night, my back pain is so bad that it hurts to breathe, and I wake up at 3am every morning and can’t fall back asleep. It’s not awesome at all. One would think I would be used to it by now… not so much.

Got a massage, had some cupping and acupuncture done, but I’m still in pain. Been working out but feeling pretty disgusting and slow despite my new running shoes. Pretty much ready to give up on dating altogether as it’s been bordering on disaster. Still struggling with finding a job, and the application and interview process is not going smoothly AT ALL. Somehow I thought it would be simple to get a job working to serve the underserved. Now I know why they’re underserved. Because they won’t hire people to serve them.

Haven’t blogged here or for LAist in quite a while. Haven’t checked Flickr in over a month. Totally behind with all of my friends. Feeling generally crappy. Please may this be better in a week. I’m begging the blogging gods to help me out here. Wah.

Anyway, here are some boobs to tide you all over till my life straightens itself out.

  4. Well Mal, we’re all pulling for you. Even though things are working at all how you planned… know that there are people out here that want to see you succeed, and most importantly, believe in you.

  5. WHEW!!! I thought something bad had happened. ;-D

Seriously, I have complete faith in your ability to pass that exam with flying colors. You’re smart, you’re creative - you’ll do great. The job hunt - well, wish there was something I could do, but all I can do is tell you it will get better. Tight economy and all that, but you will find the right spot. It’s coming, Mal - just keep looking.

Keep us posted, lady. We’re all rooting for you.

  7. Thanks for the boobs.
And much luck on your exam.

You’re way too bright, funny and beautiful not to get hired and laid. They’ll both come eventually. Usually when you quit worrying about it stop looking.

  8. Wishing you a better week. Brighter days are just around the corner.

  9. Relax, Mal. It’s OK. Try to focus on just one thing at a time. I get the impression that you’re the type of person who, once you choose something you want to do, you go all-out to do your best. Trying to do them all at once is stressing you unrealistically. Don’t think about dating now. Put aside the job search for a week or so. Just focus on doing the test well. After that, then worry about the job. Finally, once that’s settled, start the man-hunt. Most importantly, remember that while you might have crazy-high expectations of yourself, your friends and family probably don’t. They’ll care about you regardless of what you score on the test or where you work. And as for dating, well, maybe you just need a change of coasts… I hear there’s room in the DC-area… :)

  10. Just a few more days, hon. Then it’ll be over.

Job interviews just notoriously suck ass. Doesn’t matter if you’re interviewing for McDonalds or to be the president of the United States - they all suck. It’s just a matter of hammering away at it over and over and eventually, you’ll find something.

We love ya. And your friends totally understand your stress and that you’re busy and we’re here for you whenever you need us.

Make sure you get a massage AFTER the test is done too. You deserve a reward for what you’ve gone through.

  13. Sorry it’s all carpping out on you. Hope this week brings some relief to something!

  14. What wskrz said — Job hunting always sucks, for everybody. So do headaches and insomnia. Get ambien or sonata or lunesta or whatever it takes for the time being. Do a sleep study — it took me 40 years to find out I had sleep apnea and needed CPAP just because I wasn’t obese and didn’t fit the profile.

If your accu isn’t working, find another or find a good chiro. Do as I say, not as I do. I would remain loyal to the same people even though I was still getting migraines, and spent 10 years unable to look over my own shoulder without turning from the waist. But with a good chiro, I have more mobility than 20 years ago, and I don’t need surgery to keep my boobs facing front.

Prayers for your exam, job hunt, workouts, pain, and everything.

  17. still hoping it goes/went well and that your stress has subsided. missing your updates.

    leendadll - June 10th, 2008 at 10:18 pm

  18. hope your test went over well. If you feel bad just remeber that it is over and you cant change anything on it so you should just RELAX.

    Anonymous - June 11th, 2008 at 12:31 pm

  19. Actually I had a sleep study. They said “wow, you don’t get any REM sleep, but we don’t know why.” And that was it. Yay for me.

The test is over, still dealing with a lot of stress with job stuff. I’ll be back soon.

    malingering - June 11th, 2008 at 3:04 pm

  20. Sorry for the sleep study results. I keep getting tested for a variety of health problems and results keep coming back as “you’re healthy, even for a super healthy person”. And I basically get a polite version of “my tests say nothing is wrong so I say nothing is wrong. Too bad that you have all those symptoms. Sucks to be you. Buh-bye now.”

    Take care of yourself.

    leendadll - June 12th, 2008 at 12:45 am

  21. They just said, “we don’t know why” and didn’t try to schedule you for more follow-ups?

Aren’t they even INTERESTED in the why??? Geez.

If you like, I can send my daughter out to visit you for a week. If she doesn’t talk you to sleep she’ll run you ragged. :-D

Seriously, hope you feel better. Glad to get periodic updates so that we know you’re still hanging in there.
