web abuse
Yesterday I received the following message:
“I do not understand why you want to ridicule the people in your photograph. Did you ask their permission to parade them on the web and to say that the girl looks like a whore? How would she feel about this? If you want to show shots of people then you respect the subjects. I think that that this photo, and some of your other captioned pictures are an abuse of the web.”
Since it’s still rather unclear where the freedom of speech legislature lies when it comes to blogs and websites, I don’t know how we can define “web abuse.” However, I have come up with a list of websites which I believe are a greater abuse of the information superhighway than my own people watching blog. If, by chance one day my site is banned, I hope these sites go down with me.
Using the web to spread “racialist propaganda”
Then you have the pro-suicide websites which unfortunately are rather effective.
And then there are the methamphetamine recipes all over the web of which there are too many to list but let’s just say I work with meth addicts everyday and that is one drug I highly suggest you stay away from. (Here is the faces of meth website, which I think is a decent public service.)
Then we have the sites that teach middle schoolers how to get high off of cough syrup (which is all too common these days).
We also have websites which help men prey on young boys (I am not going to search for more because the cookies that will be stuck on my computer after that search will kill me).
As I come across more, I will post them here. All submissions welcome (email malingering at verizon dot net)
